Episode 076 (Life Stories Series) – When God Recycles

Episode 076 (Life Stories Series) – When God Recycles

Mark Twain said, “THERE WAS NEVER YET AN UNINTERESTING LIFE. SUCH A THING IS AN IMPOSSIBILITY. INSIDE THE DULLEST EXTERIOR, THERE IS A DRAMA, A COMEDY, AND A TRAGEDY.”

This is the Life Story Series.

Join Christopher Harris for an encouraging message that he delivered inviting us to see our lives from a different perspective. Often what we consider to be trash (lacking in value or unredeemable), God considers valuable and redemptive. Engage in this message with fresh ears to see what “ah ha” moments may ensue.

==================

Have you ever stopped to consider what your life story is?  This question isn’t about the specific details of what, when, how long. The question is about what’s important, what did it mean, and other questions that unpack the WHY behind the what.

Our goal over the next few episodes is to host guests that will share their unique stories and engage in a level of transparency of their past and present challenges that will allow us to not only learn from them, but appreciate their stories, what they are doing and then simultaneously appreciate our own stories and life narrative. This series has FOUR (4) Goals:

  • We want you to think about your own life story
  • Appreciate your own life story
  • Listen to others’ stories – their victories, challenges, and lessons learned
  • Get a WISE IDEA about how other’s stories could cause positive change in your own life.

This series is sure to prompt smiles, evoke tears, and create “Ah Ha Moments”.

Episode 050 – SPECIAL EDITION: Surviving R Kelly Dialogue With Special Guests

Episode 050 – SPECIAL EPISODE: A Frank Discussion About “Surviving R. Kelly” and other issues of abuse, family, parenting, and culture (With Special Guests Dee-1 and Devona Alleyne)

In a break from our normal dialogue, show line-up, and podcast segments, we attempt to tackle the tough subjects raised during the recently released Lifetime docu-series “Surviving R. Kelly”.

Our Host welcomed national recording artists Dee-1 (pictured here) and clinical therapists Devona Alleyne (pictured below) to the podcast for a multi-angled discussion on the docu-series and the tough topics raised.

Upon Lifetime TV Network’s release of the docu-series, the media (including social media) had a constant buzz.  Millions of discussions, threads, comments, videos, blog posts, podcasts and the like were generated from the docu-series.

*DISCLAIMER: While I believe that parents should watch the docu-series AND create dialogue in your home about the topics covered in the docu-series, I would recommend that you watch it first without your children and THEN decide whether your children can handle watching, based on their age, maturity, and ability to process the topics.  PLEASE use HEALTHY discretion.

There are so many angles, conversations and lives impacted. The docu-series raises some very hard questions and lifts up some very difficult topics.

We couldn’t discuss every angle and every topic, but just for a few minutes we walked through some pretty heavy waters.

Enjoy the dialogue!

Episode 049 – A Year In Review with Michael “Bowtie Comedy” Goodwin, Part 2

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everybody!

This week and last, we’ve taken some time to reflect on 2018.

Here is Part 1 of the conversation.

2018 was a busy year.  In these episodes, we talk about everything in the news, interesting stories that took place, some personal life events that happened, and even paying homage to those that passed away during the year. We tackle all of the social, political, spiritual, religious, and general life things that took place last year and boy was it alot!

Reflecting on 2018 is great for us to do as a community, but its even better to do individually.  I hope that these few episodes will give you the space to allow you to reflect on your views, but more importantly, your personal values and personal vision.

Enjoy the dialogue!

Episode 048 – A Year In Review with Michael “Bowtie Comedy” Goodwin, Part 1

Happy New Year!

Today is the FIRST THURSDAY of 2019! Happy New Year everybody!

This week and next, we’ll take some time and reflect on 2018.  2018 was a busy year.  We talk about everything in the news, interesting stories that took place, some personal life events that happened, and even paying homage to those that passed away during the year.

Episode 047 – A Happy New Year!

Episode 047 – A Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays AND Happy New Year Everyone! Today is the last THURSDAY of 2018! WOW – 2018 has been a full year. This time of the year also brings about a time where many folks are thinking about closing out one year and goals for the new year.  New Years goals, reinventing yourself, navigating the changes that are necessary to grow and improve are all par for the course.

Today, I wanted to provide a short message to say THANK YOU, a reflection of some things to do to close out the year and take a few minutes and pray for you!

Sure, January 1 is just another day on the calendar.  But the bringing in a new year allows all of us to press RESET – We press RESET with our habits, goals, pursuits, and dreams. But the new year gives us an opportunity to start over and begin AGAIN.

Enjoy this brief thoughts about the new year and a prayer from me to you as you begin the new year!

Episode 037 [Ministry/Leadership] – How Can We Defend The Church? With Dr Brianna Parker – Part 2

Episode 037 – How Can We Defend The Church? – With Dr Brianna K Parker (Black Millennial Cafe) – Part 2

For the past few months, the Wise Idea Podcast and our host Christopher J Harris has tackled the tough topics surrounding the challenges facing today’s church.  The emphasis is on the North American Protestant church. To be sure, the Church has it share of real issues and problems and the media has presented The Church as a problem institution that is out of touch with today’s culture. While not ignoring the realities of the challenges that the Church has, we want to approach those in a redemptive and restorative way and address some many of the failings of today’s church. This episode is Part 2 of our conversation featuring Dr. Brianna K Parker of The Black Millennial Cafe. You can see Part 1 Here.

Dr Parker – known as Rev. Bri – is a highly sought-after preacher, public speaker, millennial engagement coach and ministry consultant. She is the curator and founder of the Black Millennial Café (BMC), a consulting practice and data resource center for persons seeking healthy engagement with Black millennials of faith.. You can learn more about her work and content here:

The Dad Life With Marc Jeffrey, Part 2 :: A Conversation About The Life of Being A Dad, Real Fatherhood, & and Parenting with Marc Jeffrey (Leader of the #DadLife & CEO of The Legacy Consulting Group)

The entire month of June, we are focused on Dads and Fatherhood! It is a TRUE statement when Pope John XXIII said, “It is easier for a Father to have children than for children to have a real father.” So all of this month, we are focusing on Dads, Fathers, Fatherhood, and parenting from the angle of the Dad. We believe that Dads often don’t get their credit and are their impact is often misunderstood. Our host Christopher J Harris, continues the month-long conversation with Mr. Marc Jeffrey, who’s the lead for The Dad Life Brand and CEO of Legacy Consulting Group.  Feeling like a living room conversation, Marc spoke very straightforward about his journey and growth into Fatherhood, his daily navigation of being a dad, and offered a number of great and simple tools that everyone would benefit from. Although it’s past, Happy Father’s Day to all of the Men out there!

(By the way: We focused on Mom’s for the month of May. Go check out our previous episodes!)

Happy Father’s Day to all of the Men out there! (By the way: We focused on Mom’s for the month of May. Go check out our previous episodes!)
